Images from the LAST CHANCE TOUR
Unfortunately Joe Chapman was
delayed by a court case in Little Current and couldn't meet us at
Montreal River, but did join up at the Batchawana Bay Community
Centre later that day where he and John addressed a group of concerned
citizens and answered questions about IWT development in
Algoma & Ontario.
Regrettably SOAR chose not to
participate in our Sault Ste Marie event, which deprived its members of
the chance to meet John Laforet and Joe Chapman and listen to what they
had to say. Their talks were extremely informative and helpful,
the question period lively and interesting.
John and Joe's message was well
received and their encouragement to those of us fighting IWT
developments in Algoma was very welcome. We were honoured by the
attendance of Wikwemikong
Elder Rosemary Wakegijig
who gave the First Nation's perspective and treated us to a traditional
Ojibway legend. Ray Beaudry of MCSEA came all the way from
Manitoulin to join us in solidarity.
We thank them all for their time
and support and look forward to working with them to further our common
goals. Thanks to all those who came out to the various events on
Saturday for their time and support, especially the
residents of Montreal River Harbour, virtually all of whom came out to
enthusiastically demonstrate their opposition to IWT and to support
John and his Truth About Turbines Tour.
Many thanks and gratitude for their support to all those from Havilland Bay and Batchawana Bay
who helped to
welcome John and Joe, as well as to those
of you who
posted the "We Vote" and "Superior Views" posters along the
highway. It was very encouraging.
Lastly our grateful thanks to all volunteers and businesses who
assisted!
